The advantages of the alligator strap

Synonymous with luxury and elegance, alligator leather straps hold a special place in the watchmaking market. Crafted from exotic skins, they offer a unique texture with distinctive scales, a hallmark of refinement and authenticity. Their durability is a major asset, as alligator leather is not only strong but also supple, providing optimal comfort on the wrist once the leather is relaxed within a few weeks. Resistant to surface water and scratches, these straps retain their appearance over time, displaying only a slight patina over time. Available in a variety of finishes and colors, they bring a sophisticated touch to any watch, enhancing both its style and prestige.

The difference

Alligator vs. Crocodile

Alligator and crocodile leather differ primarily in texture and quality. Alligator leather is softer and features smaller, more regular, and uniform scales, creating a smoother, more refined appearance. Crocodile leather, on the other hand, features larger, often less uniform scales, creating a wilder look. Alligator is generally considered more luxurious and expensive due to its rarity and the quality of its hides, while crocodile remains durable but more affordable.

Our alligator leather strap

Fitted cuts

All our alligator leather straps feature a fitted cut, ideal for creating a logical continuation with the shape of the watch and offering an elegant look. This cut highlights the leather, often accompanied by a boat point because it is more refined than rounded or flat points. The leather itself can be flat for a minimalist style but is often curved for a more structured and voluminous effect. Regarding the dimensions, our alligator leather straps fit standard lug widths ranging from 17 to 22mm, even if the largest standard remains 20mm. This guarantees compatibility with almost all watches on the market.

Saddle stitch & sealed edges

Handmade

All alligator leather straps are hand-sewn with a saddle stitch, ensuring durability and strength thanks to two independent threads knotted at each point. The 0.35 mm linen thread is carefully selected for its finesse and elegance. In addition, the edges of the straps are sealed to ensure a perfect and durable finish. After each sanding, several layers of paint are applied, providing optimal protection while enhancing the refined aesthetics of your watch mounted on an alligator leather strap.

Zermatt leather from the Haas tannery

Durable lining

Our alligator leather straps are lined with Zermatt leather from the renowned Haas tannery. This leather, specially designed for use as a lining, offers exceptional softness and lasting comfort, even after long hours of wear. Water and sweat-resistant, it is ideal for hot and humid climates. Zermatt leather not only guarantees great durability, but also ensures a pleasant and comfortable fit, while preserving the elegance and superior quality of the alligator leather strap.

Easy installation

Quick pumps

Our alligator leather straps are attached to the watch's lugs using lug bars that fit into the holes provided inside the lugs. These metal pins, essential for securing your watch, ensure that your watch will remain securely attached to your wrist. Like many watchmakers, we favor quick release spring bars, known as "flash" or "presto," allowing for quick, tool-free strap changes. For watches equipped with conventional spring bars, you will need a fork-tipped pin to remove your current strap.
