NATO strap
The History of the NATO Strap
Created in 1973 under the code name "G10" for the needs of the British Army and at the request of the British MOD, the NATO strap was initially designed to withstand all terrains. It thus filled the gaps of leather, particularly during tropical missions, as well as those of steel due to its sheen. A symbol of security and reliability, it has survived the ages without going out of style, to the point of becoming iconic thanks to James Bond.

Original Specifications
Designed to exacting specifications, the original NATO strap was made from 1.2mm thick woven Admiralty Grey nylon, formed as a single piece with no removable buckle or spring. The buckles and keepers were heat-sealed with a cut nylon strip and the holes heat-sealed. Its 20mm width and 280mm length made it ideal for military watches and Royal Navy equipment.

James Bond & NATO
Popularized by James Bond in "Goldfinger," where Sean Connery wore a Rolex Submariner on a striped nylon strap, these straps have become synonymous with sophistication and adventure. An accessory inseparable from the famous spy's image and his casual elegance, even if it wasn't strictly speaking a true NATO strap... which didn't yet exist when the film was released in 1964!

The Advantage of Nylon
